H2INTEGRA

The H2INTEGRA project incorporates companies covering the entire H2 value chain. This infrastructure consists of 1) an electrolyser of 2. 5 MW electrolyser located at the PETRONOR refinery in Muskiz (under installation), 2) a pipeline already built by NORTEGAS that will transport H2 at a maximum pressure of 30 bar from Muskiz to the Abanto Technology Park to supply 3) a compression and storage station at 30, 4) 3 MEGC (Multiple Element Gas Container) truck loading bays at 300 bar and 500 bar for IBIL, through which hydrogen will be distributed to the project’s use cases and a hydrogen generator (HRS) for recharging IBIL’s light and heavy vehicles; 5) a Data Centre that will also be located in the Abanto park, a few metres from the storage and compression station. The hydrogen would also be supplied by MEGCs to 6) goods handling cranes operating in the port area, and to 7) a satellite HRS at Bilbao airport, for refuelling light and heavy vehicles on the ground and for handling equipment in the air.

For the cases of use of H2 in 8) the manufacture of steel tubes and aluminium containers, both in Álava, it is proposed to have prototypes of in-situ H2 generation to be able to carry out initial tests with H2, in the expectation of receiving H2 in the future via MEGC or pipeline.

For those cases of use in which H2 will arrive via injection into the natural gas distribution network, it is necessary 9) to separate the H2-CH4 mixture into H2 and CH4, depending on the needs of the end user. The project also devotes part of the research to 10) safety in industrial hydrogen installations, given its relevance to any development activity linked to H2.
